Mt. Kailash in Tibet of People's Republic of China is the center of worship for Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and Bonpo. Every year thousands of pilgrims from all over the world come to this place for a worship as well as adventure. 

You need to send us your scan copy of passport minimum 25 days before your tour, on that basis we will ask our Tibet counterpart to issue your Tibet Travel permit and visa authorization letter to issue visa in Kathamndu. Current formality requires that you need to stay minumum 3 days in Kathamndu to process your China/Tibet visa. Visa days are Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday Chinese Embassy wil be closed. If you are arriving Lhasa on your own then you need to obtain China visa in your home country and send us  a scan copy of your Chinese visa for us to process your Tibet travel permit. We will send your visa copy and travel permit at your hotel China to enter Tibet. Tibet is a special zone so normal visa does not work here.

Tour begins and ends at Lhasa

Day 01: Arrive Lhasa (3650m)

When you arrive in Lhasa either by train or flight your guide will greet you and take you to your hotel. You can see Yarlung Tsangpo River/Bhamaputra river - the Longest and largest river in Tibet and Lhasa river on your way to hotel. After arriving at hotel, you may take a rest and get acclimatized with Lhasa’s high altitude. If you wish to explore some close by then you can go to the Potala Square or close market. Stay overnight in Lhasa.

Notes to the first time visitors: to get acclimatized to the high altitude in Tibet it is advised to have a proper sleep in your hotel, drinks lots of water, not to rush and relax in visiting to the monuments.

Day 02: Lhasa Tour - Potala Palace, Johkang Temple, and Barkhor Street (B)

Today's tour will first bring you to the Potala Palace. Potala Palace was built in 1645 and completed in 1693. It dominates the landscape in Lhasa. The palace is the former winter residence of the Dalai Lama. It used to be the official residence of 13 Dalai Lamas. The magnificent building has over 1000 rooms. Inside there are many chambers; you can see brilliant frescoes paintings and great view of Lhasa.

Next visit after lunch is Jokhang Temple that has valuable relics of Buddha and magnificent statues related to Tibet Buddhism. Often you come across devotees, who have come from far flung of Tibet, prostrating in and around. The sight of pilgrims prostrating themselves in front of Jhokang must be seen to be comprehended. This is something you can never see elsewhere. Jokhang temple in Lhasa is the spiritual center of Tibet where in the summer nomads meet other pilgrims on their way to the high pasture.

You then visit to the Barkhor Bazaar outside the Jokhang monastery. This is the bustling flea market where you can buy souvenirs and meet other tourists. Stay overnight in Lhasa.

Day 03: Visit Drepung and Sera Monastery (B) 

In the morning visit Drepung monastery which is the largest monastery in the world and once housed 10,000 monks and nuns. It was built in 1416, and the second, third and fourth Dalai Lamas lived here and were entombed. A visit to the kitchen of this monastery is a must. Look out for the washing machine in which the monks mix their butter tea.

In the Afternoon you will visit Sera Monastery which is another one of the “great three” Gelug university monasteries of Tibet. The hot attraction would be to see is the Monks debate which happens around 3 - 5 in the afternoon. Beside these you can visit the Tibetan religious scripture printing house, inside the monastery, see three sand Mandalas and colorful Rock Painting of Buddha. It is very impressive and  well preserved monastery that has white-washed walls and golden roofs. Stay overnight in Lhasa.

Day 04: Lhasa- Shigatse via Gyantse (360km) (B)

In the morning drive from Lhasa to Shigatse . Drive over the Gampala pass at 4790 m is spectacular and view of lake Yamdrok-tso situated at 4400m is awesome. Yamdrok - tso is surrounded by many snow-capped mountains. Drive further to Gyantse via Korola Glacier. Gyantse is historically Tibet's third largest city after Lhasa and Shigatse.In Gyantse you will visit the famous Pelkor Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum and enjoy the Far view of Gyangtse Fortress. Next visit is Shigatse which takes 1.5 hours drive. Shigatse is the second largest city in Tibet. Overnight in Shigatse.

Day 05: Shigatse to Everest Base Camp - 350 km (B)

Visit the home of Panchan Lama at Tashilunpo Monastery before leaving for Everest Base amp. Cross Tsola Pass (4600m), Gyatsola Pass (5248m). Everest Base Camp which lies at the height of 5200m is our main destination. Enjoy the eyefest views of Mt. Everest peak from just infront of you.Overnight at tent or Rongbuk monastery guest house.

Day 06: Everest Base Camp – Saga (450km)

In the morning enjoy sunrise view over Everest. While driving to saga you come accross viewing 14th highest peak Mt.Shishapangma (8012m) and Turquoise Lake Peiku tso at 4590m.

Day 07:  Saga to Darchen, via Lake Manasarover (450km)

Cross Mayomla Pass at 5112m from Saga, enjoy the spectacular view of  Mt. Naimonanyi (7694m).  Arrive at thefoot of Mt.Kailash, the most holy mountain in Tibet. Overnight in Tarchen Hotel.

Day 08: Darchen-Drirapuk (driving 7km, Trek 13km)

Visit Darchen to Sarshung valley on a eco friend bus. From Sarshung begin your kora of 13km to Drirapuk Monastery that lies on Lachu valley. Enjoy both west and north face of mountain Kailash from this point. At the end you visit Drirapuk Monastery aswell. Overnight at Guest House

 Day 09: Drirapuk-Dzutrpuk (Trek 18km)

Trek over  Dromala pass (5630m) which is the highest pass of the Kora. Meet other pilgrims and local doing the same Kora. Explore Zutulpuk Monastery. Stay overnight at Guest House.

Day 10: Dzutripuk-Darchen (Trek 7km, driving 5km)

Last day kora, you trek for about  7 km until Zongto through numerous mani stones. From Zongto you drive to Darchen. End kora at noon time then take rest the lodge. Optional: Take bath in Manasarova lake and enjoy hot spring.

Day 11: Darchen - Saga (450km)

Drive from Darchen to Saga via Lake Manasorovar. Overnight at Lodge. 

Day 12: Saga to Sakya (350km)

Drive from Saga to Sakya.  Overnight at Hotel.

Day 13: Sakya to Shigatse (170km)

Visit ancient Sakya town and monastery with amzing murals and huge collection of scriptures and statues. Drive from Sakya to Shigatse. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 14: Shigatse - Lhasa (B)

We will follow Yalong Valley back to Lhasa. It is pleasant drive as road condition is far better in Tibet at the moment. Stay overnight in Lhasa

Day 15: Depart from Lhasa (B)

Transfer to airport or train station.

If you wish this tour can be terminated at Kathmandu after Kora you can drive down to Nepal boarder at Kyirong and travel to Kathmandu.
