    • Breathtaking mountain flight: Kathmandu to Tumlingtar

Makalu Barun National Park was first established in 1992 as a protected area in the eastern section of Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park. This is an adventurous and challenging trek to the base camp of Mt. Makalu, the fifth highest mountain in the world. Your journey starts by taking a short and picturesque flight to the beautiful village of Tumblingtar. The trail follows the sub-tropical area of the Arun-river and leaves it near Sedua. After crossing the river you climb the hill to Tashigaon. Make further steep ascend to Shipton pass (4126m). Cross the pass and enter into the other world. The pass is usually covered by snow. On the other side, you descend to Barun Khola (river) through rhododendron forest, streams and grassy fields and traverse to the base camp of Makalu. There are superb views of the fifth highest mountain in the world Mount Makalu at 8,462m and two of the other great beast such as Baruntse (7,129m) and Chamlang (7,319m). Retrace the trail back to Tumlingtar. Fly back to Kathmandu.
