In Everest, there are major three passes - Kongma La Pass (5540m), Chola Pass (5335m), Renjo-La Pass (5400m) that are popular among high adventure trekkers. First you cross Kongma La from Chukkung to Lobouje. After you have visited Kalapattar (Everest Base camp) you cross Chola La to go over to Gokyo lake. The last one is Renjo La. After the last pass you descend to Namche Bazar and then to Lukla to take flight back to Kathmandu.
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1330m) - Hotel
Day 02: Fly to Lukla (2800m ),trek to Phakding (2680m – 5 hours walk)
Transfer to the airport, fly to Lukla – 40minutes flight. The airstrip is built by Sir Edmund Hillary and his friends to service the Everest Region when he began his work of building schools and hospitals for the Sherpa people. The flight is spectacular with marvelous views of the eastern Himalaya. At Lukla we are immediately impressed by the scale of the huge peaks that surround the village but this is only a foretaste of what is to come.
Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazar (3470m 5-6 hours walk)
You follow the Dudh Koshi river valley couple of time you cross river by suspension bridge, walk across small sherpa village, below Namche bazaar trail steeply ascend for five hundred miters.
Day 04: Acclimatization in Namche Bazzar
Rest day at Hotel and explore Namche in depth or make a visit to Khumjung – a lovely Sherpa village and great landscape, visit to Syangboche airfield to see magneficient views of Amadablam and Everest.
Day 05: Trek Thyangboche (3870m - 6 hours walk)
Today provides beautiful walk, The trail meanders easily around the ridges and Everest can be clearly seen on the horizon ahead before you descend through splendid rhododendron forest for lunch. After lunch you cross the Dudh Kosi and begin the ascent to the top of a long ridge which flows from the summit of Kantega. The trail take you through pine and rhododendron forest, Thyangboche brace a great Monastery as this is a devout Buddhist region, the wildlife here are unharmed and not too shy.
Day 06: Trek to Pangboche (3800M - 3 hours walk)
View from monastery are outstanding, you get to see Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse, their line of sight flanked by Taweche on one side, and Ama Dablam on the other. It is a short day in order to acclimatize along the dense rhododendron forest . Visit Pangboche Gompa - the oldest monastery in the Khumbu, said to be over 300 years old.
Day 07: Trek to Dingboche (4360m -5 hours walk)
Cross the river again and trek up to Dingboche, situated just beneath the impressive Ama Dablam.
Day 08: Trek to Chukkung (4700m – 3 hours walk)
An important acclimatization/rest day today with the option of hiking high up to the ridge overlooking the village, or perhaps up to Chhukung Village. You spend the day exploring or relaxing and taking in the mountain scenery. Excellent views of Nuptse, Lhotse, Chhukung Peak and Imja Tse (6189 m) can be seen from the ridge above the camp. Massive glaciers drape beneath cliffs that soar up to 3,500 meters in this dramatic valley. It is from here that you will prepare to make our first crossing of a high pass, the Kongma La Pass at 5300 meters.
Day 09: Cross Kongma La (5500m), trek to Lobuje (5000m )- 9/10 hours walk.
Start early morning around 6am with pack lunch, a gentle strong along the valley at first, followed by a steep ascent into the deep valley between Pokalde peak and Chhukung. This will be a big day as you ascend to the Kongma La pass amid the crags of this outlying ridge from nearby Nuptse. From the pass you descend steeply to the Khumbu Glacier which you cross, clambering up the moraines on the far side to reach the meadow by the Italian high altitude research pyramid where you overnight. Spectacular views of Pumori and Nuptse can be seen from here.
Day 10: Trek to Kalapattar(5545m)– return to Gorakshep(5100m)- 6 hours walk.
Start early to avoid crowds to summit Kalapattar to get astounding views of Mt. Everest, you trek trek alongside the Khumbu glacier as the path winds over the rocky moraine towards the settlement of Gorakshep. You are high, among the glaciers of the world's highest peaks, at the junction of two large glaciers and nestled in an amphitheatre of peaks. Pumori (7145 m), Lingtren (6697 m), Nuptse (7745 m) and of course Everest (8848 m) surround you. .
Day 11:Trek to Dzongla (5000m)- 6 hours walk
You head west towards the Chola Pass, contouring around a headland towards the picturesque Dzongla pass which cuts across a jagged spur that descends from the summit of Lobuche Peak. The path takes an obvious, gently ascending line, but is very narrow and in snowy conditions can be slippery.
Day 12: Cross Chola(5400m) and overnight at Tagnag(4800m) 7 hours walk.
The views today are magnificent, you get to see Cho Oyu, the sixth highest mountain in the world. Chola is steep and scrambles up rock boulders and then a walk across is gently ascending. Views your ahead are breathtaking. You descend steep boulder strewn slopes to the Gokyo valley. This is a valley of turquoise lakes and great glaciers. At the end you climb a gentle slope to the top from where you go downhill following a narrow river valley all the way to its base where you overnight.
Day 13: Trek to Gokyo (4800m - 2 hours walk)
You cross the glacier and ascend the lateral moraine valley past beautiful lakes with Siberian ducks swimming across the mirror-calm surface, to the village of Gokyo. An easy day. You will have the chance to climb another mountain, Gokyo Ri at 5335m, either this evening or early the next morning.
Day 14: Extra day Gokyo. Attempt Gokyo Ri or just explore around.
Day 15: Cross Renjo La (5400m ), overnight at Lunden(4400m) – 7 hours walk.
Start early around 5 am, a challenging cross but exciting one. The Tibetan boarder is very close and you get a chance to meet Tibetan Traders descending from the Nangpa La pass that leads through the Himalayas from Tibet with their caravans of woolly yaks laden with goods.
Day 16: Trek to Namche Bazar - 7 hours walk.
You turn south and down valley towards Lukla for our return to Kathmandu. But there are Sherpa villages to be explored as we descend the gorge.
Day 17: Trek to to Lukla (8 hours walk)
Retrace trail back to Lukla.
Day 18: Fly to Kathmandu.
After breakfast, fly to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel. In Kathmandu.
Day 19: Day at leisure in Kathmandu.
Day 20: Day at leisure in Kathmandu
Day 21: Free time until departure. Transfer to airport. Depart Kathmandu.
