SalamAir commences flights to Nepal

Kathmandu, September 11

SalamAir, a low-cost carrier of Oman, has started its flights to Nepal from today, with the first Muscat-Kathmandu flight landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at 8:00 am.

SalamAir started its flights with a 274-seater aircraft. The airline has appointed IME International Travels, which is promoted by the IME Group, as its general sales agent.

The fare for a one-way trip has been fixed at Rs 16,000. The arrival time of at TIA has been set at 8:00 am and departure time at 8:40am daily. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has given permission to SalamAir to conduct seven flights per week.

As per Chandra Prasad Dhakal, chairperson of IME Group, SalamAir has been operating flights to 15 other destinations using Airbus 320 aircraft. Kathmandu is the 16th destination of the airline company. “We have helped introduce the budget airline in Nepal with an objective to provide affordable service with focus on ‘Visit Nepal 2020′ campaign, which was announced by the government earlier.”

On August 2, Thai Lion Air, a budget airline of Thailand, had started its flights to Nepal. Thai Lion is flying on Kathmandu-Bangkok sector with three scheduled flights a week.

At present, 32 airline companies have been operating their flights to Kathmandu.
